Cash Box
This is absolutely the first thing you need as a treasurer. You need the ability to lock up cash or payments so that these cannot be stolen or abused. We suggest a combination box, as keys can be challenging to keep up with over the years, but by no means is that an absolute. You need to pick what you think is best for your organization. We have linked a couple of options listed below.
File Box/Filing Cabinet
Another necessity. Many places will use a whole filing cabinet, which is sometimes impractical. A simple filing box usually works fine and has more than enough storage space. It is just essential to have a place to organize all of the paper files. We have linked the file box we use as well as a filing cabinet option.
"For Deposit Only" Stamp and Ink Pad
I was honestly unaware of this until later in my term. If you stamp checks with "For Deposit Only," no matter who deposits the checks, they cannot cash them. This has since become a must-have for safety and general professionalism. It can also be helpful to have it personalized with your organization's name to endorse it simultaneously.
Receipt Book
This is precisely what it sounds like. It can be nice to have some books like this lying around for the members or others that need a receipt for various purposes. It also is helpful to have a system in place that aids in the keeping of expenses and other such things.
There are many other things that could be helpful, but those are the main things that we use that might not be obvious.
